Baby Oakland is here!

Well this last week has been a crazy one. Luckily Ryan returns from China today and we can't wait to have him back home. He was very relieved that he found a KFC nearby because he was worried about what he was going to eat all week. He isn't much of a fan of authentic chinese food. His idea of chinese food is Orange chicken from Panda Express! I have only got to talk to him couple of times while he was there so it should be interesting to hear his stories of the trip when he gets home. Jack is feeling much better. The poor little guy had a rough week but, I've had the best nights of sleep since he was born thanks to Benadryl and Tylenol. He has decided that he likes to butt heads now and let me tell you from experience my head is no match for his hard plastic helmet! It almost brought tears to my eyes this morning when he thought that would be fun to do to his mom while I was burping him! The highlight of the whole week happened yesterday when baby Oakland was born. My sister Mandy had him last night around 6 'O Clock. Unfortunately he wasn't due until April so his poor little lungs weren't developed quite enough yet! They had to put him on a ventilator and have him transferred to the University hospital. He weighs 5 lbs 12 ounces and is 18 inches long. He looks so tiny compared to Jack who was almost 9 pounds and 21 inches long when he was born! I told my sister that Oakland better buck up and gain some pounds because Jack will be beating him up in no time! But he is so cute with all his dark hair and I can't wait to get to hold him. We have been told today that he is already improving and has been taken off the ventilator so hopefully he won't have to stay long in the hospital! Seeing that sweet little baby made me realize how quickly my own monster has grown! (I don't have any pictures of Oakland yet so I had to settle for one of when Jack was a newborn! :)

What a day already!

So last night we went to Ryan's parents house for dinner (Ryan insisted on stuffed crust pepperoni from Pizza Hut) and had a great time visiting with everyone. We heard some exciting news about Nate and Jenny (congrats you guys) and Ryan's mom and I were talking about how lucky we had been that Jack didn't get really sick this winter. Well I jinxed myself- basically Jack was up every 45 minutes through the night and would whimper and cry and then finally go back to sleep. When I got up to feed him I could tell he had a stuffy nose so I turned on his humidifier and went to sleep for another 45 minutes. When we woke up this morning Jack has a terrible runny nose and runny eyes! I'm hoping it is because he is teething and not that he is coming down with a cold! But never fear (okay this is disgusting so you may not want to read on) but we have a built in snot swiper in our house. Our dog Pax walks by Jack every 10 minutes and licks that snot right up! I know it's disgusting but he won't stop and I get so tired of yelling at him so I guess i'm just going to be happy that it's not going into Jack's mouth!

Jack's Breakfast

So we tried to have breakfast this morning with our new bowls and it was a DISASTER! It all started when Emma spilled her yogurt while I was feeding Jack his cereal! In a rush to clean it up I guess I sat his bowl and spoon down a little too close and Jack decided he was just going to feed himself. Before I knew it the whole bowl of cereal was tipped over on the counter and Jack had the spoon in his mouth! Good thing he is so darn cute because he is turning into a little bit of a stinker!

Jack's Dr Appointment

So today we went to see Jack's helmet doctor- (he has a real name and a title but i'm not sure what it is right now!) Everything seems to be going well. Some of the rashes have gone down a bit and the sores on the back of his neck are looking better. I'm so glad that he is taking all of this in stride because if he wasn't I would have such a hard time making him wear it. I hope we are making the right choice in trying to fix his flat little head and that he will be thankful later that we all suffered through this! Jack, Emma and I all stopped at Ikea on the way home from the doctor and after going up and down the elevator 3 times, going to the bathroom 3 times, and eating a snack (there's nothing like .99 cent macaroni and cheese!) we finally made it out of the store. You could spend forever in there! Someday when i'm rich I will have my house decorated cute- for now I'll just have to settle for buying Jack some new bowls for his cereal!

What the Heck!

Okay so I started this blogging thing awhile ago and quickly got bored of it and quit. But everyone else is now starting it so I thought I would give it another try! Not that my life is very interesting so I hope you're ready for a good nap! But I did think this would be a good way to keep track of all the fun things Jack learns everyday! His newest trick (he started this yesterday) is blowing spit! I know he is a tricky little one! He blows his little lips out and makes the cutest little noises. I don't know how he came up with this one because it's not even something Ryan and I do to him. But it is so stinkin cute. He also learned how to sit up (on Saturday) and can roll over when he wants to. He's really content laying on his back so I think it's going to be a long time until he tries to crawl! This is the third week that I have been watching Emma for my sister and it has taken some getting used to! I'm going to think twice before I have another baby! It's so much work getting two kids in and out of carseats and into stores- so basically we have just become home bodies. Hopefully me being forced to stay home will help me to get some spring cleaning done! Emma did start preschool today at the neighbor Karli's so we are really excited!
