A few more pics....

Just a few more random pictures I just had to post.....

Day Six of our Adventure!

Before we knew it and before we were ready our vacation was over and it was time to head home. We boarded the ferry once again to begin our adventure home. It indeed did turn out to be an adventure. When we arrived in Hyannis we found out they had given our rental car away and we were stuck with what was left. A 2007 Red Ford Mustang. If you could have seen the amount of luggage we had with us you would understand that this was an adventure. We looked like a bunch of clowns trying to stuff our luggage, stroller, and ourselves into this fancy sports car. But I won't complain... it was better than having to take the bus. Needless to say this cut down on our shopping as we made our way back to Providence because we didn't have room to shove another thing in that car. We made it back to the airport and Jack once again was super hyper and squealed the whole way to Minnesota. Luckily he did fall asleep on the flight to SLC but he was quite a handfull on the flights home. Overall it was a great vacation and as crazy as it sounds can't wait to go again! Sorry about the super long posts but we had so much fun I didn't want to miss a thing!

Day Five of our adventure!

Tuesday morning we decided to go to Water tower beach with Christie and her kids. We packed up a lunch and headed out. Jack didn't enjoy this beach as much because it had some waves and he wasn't quite sure of the sound that they make. Ainslee and Christie came to the rescue though and dug him a little "swimming pool" in the sand. He spent the next hour in his little pool with his shovel eating all the rocks and seashells he could get his hands on.

Splishy Splashing at the Beach

Day Four of our adventure!

Monday morning we decided we were going to spend another day in town looking in all the different stores. We first went to the store I used to work at for 8 summers called "Pinwheels." Of course my friend Beth who owns the store let Jack out of his stroller the minute we walked in and he got busy destroying the store. Luckily it's a toy and clothing store so he couldn't do much damage. While he was playing with the trains I saw a giant shark puppet that I showed to Jack. Unfortunately he didn't seem to like it much. I don't know how he knows to be afraid of a shark but he was! We continued on through town with Jack stopping to eat his banana and for us to take a little break. Jack has decided he LOVES to eat bananas and can polish one off in just a few minutes! We stopped for a few more pictures around town before getting lunch and heading down to children's beach to eat. We decided Jack could just put his "feet" in which quickly turned out into a sopping wet splash session. Luckily I did have some spare clothes for him so we let him have at it! Boy did he ever SCREAM when it was time to get out of the water and head home!

Day Three of our adventure!

Sunday morning we woke up anticipating a rainy day but we were thrilled to be greeted with sun. Michael and Christie (the wonderful friends we stayed with - Thanks guys!) decided they would take us out in their boat to the beach for a little bbq. We traveled over to Coatue where you can only get to by boat so we were the only ones on the beach. Michael whipped up some delicious hamburgers and we had a great time just hanging out with everyone. Michael invited us to try clamming with him which Rosie and I were really excited about until we saw just how far out you had to wade into the water. I'm not one for seaweed to touch my feet so we quickly declined but Michael was succesful and got quite a few clams which we had on pizza the next night.(I know it sounds gross to most of us westerners but it actually wasn't bad!) Jack loved walking up and down the beach with Grandma Rosie but was rather exhausted so he ended up taking a two hour nap at the beach! On the boat ride back to the marina Jack just sat there and laughed. It was so cute.. he just giggled the whole ride back. I think it was all the bouncing in the boat and the wind blowing in his face that he thought was so funny!

Day Two of our adventure!

We woke up Saturday morning and drove down the cape to Hyannis to catch the ferry. Of course we arrived with not much time to spare so we were in a hurry to catch the boat. Once again I dropped everybody else off at the ferry and I drove to the airport to turn in the rental car. In our hurry Ainslee forgot to get her ipod and camera out of the rental car which turned into quite the adventure to get it back. I arrived back at the ferry terminal just in time to catch the boat over to Nantucket. Jack was quite excited to say the least. I'm sure he had NO idea what was going on but he was so HYPER you would think I fed him sugar for breakfast. He circled the boat petting several dogs on his way before I finally strapped him in his carseat for the rest of the ride. Luckily he fell asleep and we made it to Nantucket in about an hour. Shawnae picked us up at the dock and we gave Ainslee a quick tour of the town and the harbor where all the big yachts are parked. Jack of course didn't want to cooperate to take any good pictures but did enjoy the walk and fell asleep in his stroller.

Day one of our Adventure

Jack watching a little Einstein on the plane! Best $100 investment we ever made!

After the puking incident I was prepared for a wild ride to Providence. Luckily everything went smoothly and we made it to Providence without a hitch. Jack enjoyed watching Baby Einstein on the plane and LOVED the walking escalators at the Minneapolis airport. We got our rental car, found our hotel, and went out for a bite to eat. We did some shopping...and then settled back at the hotel for the night. Since I was staying with a friend once we got to Nantucket we didn't bring a playpen because she already has one. This did mean though that we had to spend the night at the hotel with Jack roaming free. He has never slept on a bed or out of his crib ever so he wasn't quite sure what was going on. I built him a bed on the floor right where I was sleeping on the couch and circled him with suitcases to try to contain him. After having my lips pulled and fingers stuck up my nose for 30 minutes I realized this wasn't going to work. My Mom came up with a great plan and we quickly put it into action. Now it probably looks and sounds bad but it worked like a charm. We turned the table over, put it next to the tv stand and blocked the other side with an overturned chair. I made him a soft little bed put him in and not 2 minutes later he was asleep. Unfortunately I didn't get any sleep because I checked on him every 20 minutes but the little stinker slept like a baby!

Getting ready for bed.

The first cage I made.. he slept in it for about 1 minute.

The world's best improvised crib!

The trip that started off with a bang!

So we arrived at the Salt Lake airport at 6:00 am Friday morning all prepared for our adventure! I dropped my mom and Ainslee off at the terminal with all our baggage and Jack and I headed off to park the car. I found a great spot and walked around the car to get Jack out of his seat. To my surprise as I opened the door Jack began projectile puking all over himself, his seat, the car... everywhere. I quickly grabbed his blanket to start wiping up the puke when I realized that it was the only one I had packed so I couldn't use it. I opened the trunk and luckily Ainslee had forgot her beach towel there so I used it to start cleaning up the mess. As I had dropped EVERYTHING at the terminal with my Mom I had NOTHING for him to wear so we proceeded to the shuttle with Jack stark naked. (okay ya he had a diaper on!) All the while I'm contemplating what the heck i'm going to do. I considered calling Ryan to come get him but first wanted to talk to my mom and get her opinion. We made it to the terminal after I held his blanket over his head the whole shuttle ride because I didn't want him puking on any unsuspecting other passengers. When we finally arrived at the terminal Jack was rearing to go and we had to chase him naked crawling through the terminal to try to put some clothes on him. Needless to say I assumed that he was feeling better and that he may have just gotten car sick. We dosed him up with some Tylenol and we were on our way....

Happy July 24th!

This year for Pioneer Day we didn't do much to celebrate because we were leaving for Nantucket the next day. Ryan surprised us by stopping at the store on his way home from work and picking up some fireworks! We decided to brave the mosquitos and head out for just a few minutes while Ryan put on the show for us! What a little fire bug Ryan is and Jack sure enjoyed picking up on everything his dad did!
