The Dreaded Tubes

So today was the big day and all that fretting and worrying about the surgery was pretty much for nothing. She did great and was so brave. I am so proud of her and I am keeping my fingers crossed that these will really help her! We were scheduled for surgery at 9 am so of course that meant they got started around 10 and boy was she angry by this point that we had forgotten to feed her and make her bottle. It was pretty much a full on kicking screaming fit by this point. Luckily though, I think she had a crush on the anesthesiologist because as soon as he picked her up to take her away, she just stared at him and completely stopped crying. (Way to go Ella, make sure you pick the ones with money!) I was very relieved that she calmed down because it was much easier for me to see her walk away happy than it would have been to watch her kick and scream the whole way down the hall!

On the way to the hospital she was happy as a clam and had NO idea what was coming for her!

All suited up and ready to go! All the nurses were super nice to her and couldn't stop saying how cute she was although I think she looked just like her brother in that blue hospital gown! The surgery only lasted about 10 minutes and it wasn't long before she was back in my arms showing us just what her lungs were made of!

Overall, it wasn't that bad and I just hope it was the right decision for her and that she will see some positive benefits really soon!

Whiners...

So I had two people complain to me today that I hadn't updated the blog so I guess I should.... Unfortunately I have been super stressed and crazy lately trying to finish up school so I don't have anything exciting to post about.
Some of what we have been up to:
I started going to Zumba twice a week and I am loving it!
We have enjoyed some nice weather the last few days and we are enjoying actually getting out of the house! I did completely lose my mind the other day and let Ella eat ravioli on her own and she didn't disappoint and managed to get it EVERYWHERE! Jack at the baseball game the other night LOUDLY announced to whoever was listening that "We don't say BOOBS or SHUT UP" "Right mom?" What a stinker!
We did get a new car.... brace yourself.... it's a minivan! I know, I know, I said I would NEVER drive a minivan but I am LOVING it! All the space, automatic doors, DVD player, new car smell, did I mention a DVD player.... so never say never as I am learning about firsthand! Alright, that was a bunch of ramblings but hopefully I will get my life together soon as school is over and we will be able to do something blogworthy!




I will post pictures of the new car soon.... and if any of you are dying for a ride, just let me know, I have room now!:) Ella's surgery is on Tuesday so keep your fingers crossed for us, mostly I'm concerned about her having to fast during the night. This little girl doesn't fast at night and is going to be thoroughly angry at us by morning time!

Jacker-Man

Grandma "Nette" made Jack an apron for Easter and it has already gotten a LOT of use around here. I have convinced him that it's cool to wear it while you are eating and he also LOVES to wear it to cook and to paint. The last few weeks with Jack have been so good. He is FAR from being perfect... but he has had a complete change in attitude and behavior the last little while and I have been thoroughly enjoying it! I can't even remember the last time I had to put him in his room for a time out and month's ago he was in there several times a day! Hopefully this nice streak will continue because I am really ENJOYING it!

The Everlasting Balloons

It's been THREE weeks since Ella's birthday and the balloons are still alive. We definately got our money out of these ones. The kids love playing with them so I can't bear to pop them but seriously THREE weeks? Last night they were being so cute with each other... Jack couldn't quit kissing her and she was loving all of the attention!

2 Weeks until Ella's Ear Surgery :(
4 Weeks until SCHOOL IS OVER (well the semester anyway!)
4.5 Weeks until ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS comes to visit!
5 Weeks until VACATION!
9 Weeks until my BIRTHDAY!

Guess I have some things to look forward too..... which is a good thing because I'm feeling BLAW this spring!

Jack....

Jack has kept us on our toes the last little while....

Finally learned how to ride his bike...
Can FINALLY climb up the playland at restaurants, I no longer have to squeeze up there to give him a boost.....
Decided that he LOVES gum and always wants to be chewing it....
Needs to put hair jam (hair gel) in his hair everyday....
Always wants to (in a very whiny voice) "go do something FUN!"
Still loves to cook, clean and has recently added sewing into his hobbies...
Calls Ella his Sweetie...
And probably my most favorite thing thus far with Jack.... He has recently started telling me that he LOVES me!

And I know I posted this on Facebook but I need to put it here too so I don't forget...
A few weeks ago in the evening I was doing homework and Ryan was watching TV and well Jack was apparently entertaining himself. He came out of the bathroom and I looked over to see that his hair was very well spiked with water dripping down his face. Already knowing the answer because he can't reach the sink, I asked "Jack, where did you get that water to comb your hair?" He answered non-chalantly while LICKING the water off his hands "out of the toilet!" WHAT??? WHAT??? Are you kidding me???? Where did this kid come from?? Luckily the toilet had been scrubbed not too long ago but we did however bathe and sanitize him thoroughly!

NEVER a dull moment with this kid around!

Ella Rose

Our little Ninny had her one year old check up the other day... she is growing up WAY TOO FAST! Several people have reported that they thought her "thunder thighs" were slimming down and I now have the proof that they are! She hasn't gained any weight since January... in fact even lost a few ounces! She also has only grown a half an inch since December too! But never fear, she is definately one of our children because her head is now officially in the 93rd percentile! It's those big brains! We also were unfortunately referred to a specialist to have tubes put in her ears after discovering once again that she had another ear infection. She is scheduled for April 27th to have her surgery! We are not excited about this one bit but hopefully (fingers crossed) she will be able to sleep through the night once this is done. The DR basically promised me and i'm considering getting it in writing! And back to the point of this whole post...

An EGG-Cellent Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter this year and we celebrated ALL weekend long. We loaded up and headed to Idaho to celebrate. Jack participated in SEVERAl egg hunts and Ella with a little help from Grandma Rosie even found the golden egg and got FIVE dollars! There was lots of egg dying, lots and lots of candy, fun times with the cousins, and of course a visit from the bunny himself! Uncle Trevor and his family came too and the kids decorated cookies, played in the mud and even got to go swimming again at the Hotel-o! Easter day we came all prepared with our cute Easter dress for Ella.... but because it was freezing... we had to settle for the Easter snow-suit instead! After successfully eating their weight in Candy... we decided to call it a weekend!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Ryan celebrated his birthday yesterday and because it was on Easter I feel bad that it kind of got put on the back burner. I guess that's what happens when you have kids, but we wanted to tell him how much we LOVE him and are so HAPPY that he is our DADDY! We couldn't ask for a better husband and dad!

Spring has Sprung

A couple of weekends ago we had a semi nice day and we totally took advantage of it. Although it technically was far from being "warm," it was semi NOT freezing so we spent several hours doing yard work and then finished it up with a picnic on the patio. We were also able to pull all the yard toys out of storage and Jack was in heaven! We look forward to many days being spent out back playing this summer!
