In the Doghouse

Perhaps this is why Jack and Rylee were filthy after their playdate yesterday?

They are actually trying to hug although it kind of looks like they are having a fist fight!

Lynly, you may never ask me to babysit again after seeing these but they literally spent a good hour playing in the dog kennel. And no I didn't lock them in there although it sure was tempting!

Farm Fun

4 kids under 2 terrorizing the farm + 2 very pregnant women chasing them + 1 sleep deprived cranky Mom = A fun filled day in the sun with the kids!

Today was my first playdate outing as a mother of 2 kids! Things went pretty good but once Mistie and Lynly have their babies we are in trouble. No more playdates will be possible unless we tie all the rugrats together!

Don't be confused by this innocent picture, this isn't how she enjoyed her trip to the farm. She wanted to be held the whole time until we were ready to leave and then she decided to take her 2 hour nap which she is still enjoying!
No matter how much Mistie and I jumped up and down and yelled "cheese" neither one of them was cracking a smile. Sorry we missed Rylee in all of our pictures but I can't imagine trying to get all 3 of them to sit still!

Dinner with Duane

Nothing healthier for dinner than half a container of cool whip! Thanks Duane!

EATING MY WORDS

So today I eat my words. Life with two children under 2 is rough - enjoy your last few days of life Mistie and Lynly because you are soon going down with me! All I can say is thank goodness it's Friday!
Don't be fooled by their sweet and innocent faces, there are little terrors inside both of them!

3 Weeks Old??

Where has the time gone? I can't believe that she is already more than three weeks old.

Even though these last few weeks have been crazy and very busy we have survived and I think I can actually say that it has been easier than I expected. We are learning how to handle life with 2 little ones but we are surviving and it does get easier every day!

Since this is the only journal I keep I just want to write really quick about Ella's birthday so I don't forget any of the details.

I was scheduled for induction on March 23rd at 7am. Ryan and I left Jack home sleeping with Grandma Rosie and Ryan insisted we swing by McDonalds on the way to the hospital. They had told me I could eat breakfast before I came to the hospital but I was so nervous I only managed to eat half a nutri-grain bar. I would later come to regret not stuffing my face because after 12 hours of labor and therefore 12 hours of no food- I was starving! We arrived at the hospital and after getting all settled in we were started on the pitocin around 8am. Around 11am the doctor came and broke my water which promptly had me asking if I could have my epidural already. I am all for not feeling any pain during labor. After suffering through the epidural process and the first needle not going in right I finally was feeling great and ready for Ella to arrive. Unfortunately she wasn't ready to come out yet. I was making hardly any progress even though the pitocin was turned up full blast and I started getting really upset because I just knew I was going to end up having a c-section. Around 6pm the nurse that had been with us all day checked me again before she left and I was still only dialated to a 6. When the tears started coming out of my eyes she promptly replied "okay maybe a 6 plus." I said "you are only saying that to make me feel better" which she chuckled in agreement. I insisted that my Mom and Ryan go get something to eat because I was upset and wanted to wallow in my own misery but they declined and stayed with me to cheer me up. Around 6:45 my Mom was preparing to watch her favorite show Dancing with the Stars and she jokingly said that I couldn't have the baby while it was on. I said don't worry we are going to be here much longer than that but as I was saying that I started to feel something funny. I mentioned it and Ry told me to call the nurse but I figured it was probably nothing. Pretty soon I was feeling it again and I was just about to call the nurse when she came through the door. She said that they had saw the baby's heartbeat dropping on the monitor and that usually happens when they are ready to be born. She checked me again and stated "you're complete." What???? Are you serious??? She started pulling the room apart to get ready to have the baby and I am thinking inside "girl, you've got a couple more hours to prepare before this thing is making its way out." I had to push more than 2 hours with Jack so to my complete shock after my first push my Mom starts gushing about how cute she is. So to my surprise she was born at 7:12 after just a few minutes of pushing and my Mom only missed a few minutes of her show! The best news of all though was that I managed to have her in time to still catch dinner being served. I then enjoyed the best tasting mystery meat that I have ever had. Still don't know what I ate and any other day I would have never even considered tasting it but at that moment it was delicious!

The night before we went to the hospital.Terrible picture but I love Ryan's look of disgust on his face. At least he didn't pass out!
There's nothing like the first time you see the little alien that has been growing inside you for nine months! It really is amazing to finally see the face of the little person you have been growing!

Please......

Could somebody please tell me where this kid may have come from?

Easter Weekend

We had a fun filled busy Easter weekend. Friday was Good Friday so Ryan had the day off from work so we got to enjoy a three day weekend together. Saturday we had several parties to attend to and by the time we made it home that night Jack was basically bouncing off of the walls. Perhaps he had just a tad too much sugar? But being the good parents that we are we made sure his sugar high didn't wear off and supplied him with a fresh supply first thing Sunday morning. He was sure surprised to see that the Easter bunny had come and didn't waste any time checking out what he brought him. Later that day we celebrated over with Grandma and Grandpa Paxman where he and Ella were of course again spoiled with more presents! They are two very lucky little kiddos to have so many people to love and spoil them.
This 0-3 month outfit that the bunny brought for Ella looks like it might actually finally fit when she's 2!Hmmmm.... lets see what he brought me.Ah ha..... more candy! You should see what it takes to try and get a good picture of these two together. Jack basically refuses to hold her and will only sit by her for about two seconds.
Overall Ella thought Easter was quite boring and was wondering why she even woke up for it.

Coloring Easter Eggs

The Lineup: L to R: Mom's egg, Ryan's deer egg,
Katie's bunny, the dog and cat's egg, Ella, Jack and the one that Jack threw!
Much to Ryan's dismay I came home with an Easter egg coloring kit this afternoon. We always colored Easter eggs when I was growing up and I was excited to show Jack all about it. He promptly tossed the first egg we colored and then spent the entire rest of the time picking off the egg shell. I don't know if anybody else had fun but I sure enjoyed coloring some eggs for Easter!

Jack looks like he is totally not enjoying himself and he probably isn't because we were at the Dr today with ANOTHER ear infection! Hopefully a change in antibiotics will help us to get rid of it because it is no fun!

Two Weeks Old!

I can't believe our little princess is already two weeks old. It seems like that time flew by! Here are her stats at a whole 14 days old!

Weight: 7.8lbs 33rd percentile

Height: 19.75 28th percentile

Head: 14 in. 40th percentile

These stats are a little shocking to me because if you know Jack you know that we have always TOPPED the charts for everything. Several times we were even off the charts percentile wise. It's kind of fun to have a petite little girl who hopefully stays small for awhile. Jack grew so fast that we didn't have too long to enjoy having a "baby." The most important news though is that everything looks healthy and we are so lucky to have been blessed with two healthy kiddos!

Eating Cake

I wanted to post this with the pictures of Ryan's birthday but it wouldn't work the other day so here it is. I don't know why he decided he wasn't going to use the fork but he proved that utensils aren't a necessity.

It was TOO QUIET!

This morning was Ella's two week checkup and me being a dope scheduled it for 10:20 this morning. Of course I scheduled this appointment before I had attempted to get two children ready and out the door before noon by myself. But this morning I was determined I was going to be on time and was actually running a little early to get out the door when I had to go grab a couple of things upstairs. I came back downstairs to several long pieces of toilet paper laying allover my kitchen and living room floor. I thought to myself "oh well" at least he wasn't swirling in the toilet and hurried and cleaned up the mess. I then went to load Ella from her swing into the carseat when I noticed she had spit up all over herself. This wasn't the type that you can kinda mop up and be on your way, she needed her entire outfit changed. Since we had been in Idaho all weekend most of her clothes that fit are dirty so it took me a couple of minutes to find something and get her changed. When I came back down the stairs this is what I found.

The little twirp had pulled his stool over to the kitchen island and gotten into the target bag that I had got yesterday and found everything that I had bought for his Easter basket. So much for him getting a surprise on Easter! He then proceeded to eat a good handful of the candy.... wrapper and all. Diaper changes could be rather colorful in the next couple of days. After changing his clothes we were finally on our way and I am proud to report that even with a few disasters...... we were still on time!

Early Easter

We spent this last weekend in Idaho and celebrated Easter with my family a little early. We were glad the snow melted on Saturday so we didn't have to search for our eggs with a snow shovel. Unfortunately Jack wasn't a fan of his first Easter egg hunt when the first few eggs he found had money in them instead of candy. Several dollar bills could possibly still be blowing around near Shawnae's house because he would promptly toss them when he opened his eggs and saw them. We couldn't figure out what he was throwing a fit about until Taylor gave him her eggs and he opened one with a Snickers in it and quickly stopped screaming, ate his snickers and was on his way. Ella was dressed all cute in her Easter outfit until she spit up and had to wear her "extra" clothes that I carry in the diaper bag! I didn't even get a picture of her before she ruined her cute outfit!

Here's Jack looking through all Taylor's eggs until he found one that had something he wanted in it.
Taylor and Avery riding the horse. Jack and Taylor riding the horse together. He wasn't a fan of this either.
And here he is boo hooing during the Easter egg hunt while all the kids ran around him gathering up all the eggs. All I can do is laugh at him because he is such a little hard headed stinker.

Two Little Fish

We attempted to multi task and bathe both children at once. Things worked out pretty well since there were four adults crammed in the bathroom ready to help out. Luckily everything went smoothly and both children were clean as a whistle by the time they were done with their bath! Jack took the prime opportunity of his dad being distracted and stole his hat right off his head.

Notice Ella's death grip on the sleeve of my shirt. I'm pretty sure she wasn't confident in our parenting abilities either!

Before long though she kicked back and enjoyed her bath.

Happy Happy Birthday

Opening his favorite present..... His Jack in the Box.

Saturday was Ryan's birthday and we were spending the weekend in Idaho, luckily it snowed so he was forced to spend the ENTIRE day with us. He had originally planned on going shed hunting but wasn't able to because of the snow. My parents took us all out to lunch and bought Ryan his own large pepperoni stuffed crust pizza. His favorite- he was in heaven! After lunch Jack, Colty and Ryan attempted to shoot some birds and enjoyed playing outside for the whole afternoon.
Loving on his baby girl.Let me explain Jack's outfit..... He was suffering from a rash on his "willy" so we didn't want to put anything tight around his little bum, hence... the pj pants with the onesie hanging out. We were afterall in Idaho, we had to dress the part.

Vomit, Vomit, Vomit

Just in case I ever decide I want more children I need to write about today's events so I can read it and quickly change my mind. Don't get me wrong I love my little munchkins and all but it's only noon and I have been puked on by both of them already! Hopefully whatever Jack has is just a one time episode. I'm thinking perhaps he drank too much milk but only time will tell. Unfortunately I'm sure I can expect to be puked on many more times from my little Ella! Today is the first day that I have been completely on my own with the kids. So far so good. Both are napping so I thought I would post just a couple of pics really quick!

Now that Jack is a big brother he is so cool he has to wear shades! This is how I found my little family after coming downstairs from getting ready for bed. They were all snuggled up watching the Jazz game.Jack was a little exhausted from his playdate with Grandma Annette yesterday. He didn't even make it to the couch, he just plopped down at his table to take a rest. And I can now see why my Mom has no pictures of me when I was little even though I am the favorite. After your first baby who has time to sit and snap pictures. I need to take more pictures of our little princess because I didn't even have a good one to post. So here she is giving me the stink eye for not taking more photogenic pictures of her!
