StayCation 2011
For weeks I had been wanting to just go do something fun with the kids and since it was Father's Day weekend and my Birthday I decided we would not worry about the cost and just go do it! So one day while online I noticed a special that Expedia was having and saw an awesome hotel in Downtown Salt Lake for a great deal so I decided to do it! It was settled... we were going on a StayCation! We didn't tell the kids because I didn't want to hear about when we were going a million times before the actual day so it was going to be a surprise! Well at about 5 am on the day we were going Jack surprised us by waking us up to Diarhea and "Pluking." I was soooo bummed because it was a non-refundable room and I had been so excited to go. We decided to give him a couple of hours and see how he felt. At around noon he was feeling fine and hadn't pluked in a several hours so we decided to just go and play it by ear. Luckily...... although we spent a lot of time in some bathrooms and used several bottles of hand sanitizer we had a great time and our staycation was a success! (And just as I suspected it was something he had eaten because nobody else got sick and it only lasted a few hours that day!)
Poor little guy was literally the king of the throne this day.
We went to the Discovery Museum, played in the fountains, shopped, went to dinner, swam and just enjoyed being together!

It happened again....
Once again I have let the good ol' blog get way behind. We do have some good excuses though.... we have been busy soaking up the sun, traveling, visiting with family and having tons of fun while doing it. We have put our tents, strollers, flip flops and swim "soups" to good use. Here is some of the fun we have had over the last few weeks...
In the end of May we had a quick trip to the cabin and Okie and Emma also joined us for the night. The kids love playing with their cousins and it is actually soooo much easier when the other kids are there because it gives Jack something to do besides pick on his sister. It's funny because Ella and Okie get along way better than Jack and Okie even though they are closer in age. Ella LOVES her "Cokey" and tries to do anything that he is doing. Of course this involves a lot of getting dirty so I gave her an impromptu bath in the "tub." She didn't mind that she only had 2 inches of water and that it wasn't very warm!
Another failure.... but I love them anyway...
Despite the freezing cold and rain and snow.... Jack still had a great time and was so excited that his Uncle Cory came camping with us!!
And last but not least... the FUNNEST thing we are working on this summer... Potty TRAINING! I didn't think she was ready after the first failed attempt but she has pooped on the potty the last 3 days without an accident... so who knows... Ahh, the joys of being a parent!!

I want to remember....
We always teasingly ask Jack if we should have another baby.... he always says yes and that we need to name it Sil da Sil. Don't have ANY idea where that name has come from and how he always remembers it and says it exactly the same EVERY time. No this is in no way an announcement that little Sil Da Sil is joining our family anytime soon but I just think it's funny that he came up with that name on his own and consistently remembers it!
They are full of it and it is always so fun to hear what they will come up with next!

IF IT DOESN'T STOP RAINING SOON....
Seriously, I know I complain about this every year but I am SOOOOO ready for the weather to be nice again. I will even take it still being chilly but PLEASE rain GO AWAY! We are so tired of being cooped up and ready to be able to play outside with friends!
In the meantime... this is what is happening while we are cooped up inside....
A LOT of pouting... Lots of cartoon watching... (and jumping on the bed!)
And my personal favorite.... Jack joining his sister in playing dressup! He did ask me first if I had any boy dress ups but since I didn't he used what we had!

Ice Cream... You Scream
We went to ColdStone the other night and ordered WAY too much ice cream so I brought the leftover home for the kids the next day. Since there was only one they had to share and yes there was some screaming over the ice cream! They did pretty good sharing but as soon as Jack walked away Ella quickly grabbed his spoon and began shoving it in as quickly as she could!
(Notice the spoon in each hand!)

Playdate
One of the nicer days last week we had some friends over to play while Michelle and I worked on our cards for this month. It was fun to watch Ella play with girls and it was good to see that she did indeed have a girly side! They helped her get all dressed up so that she could be Princess Lella (that's what she calls herself)and she tromped around in her high heels right along with the other girls! They are so good with her and she loves to play with them!
