Updates

Quick update and some new photos:

  • My Mom left today so it's now up to Ryan and I to see if we can keep everyone alive. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
  • We found out yesterday Jack has a terrible ear infection again. Perfect timing for two kids to be up all night long!
  • We are loving having a little girl and Jack is proving to be a great big brother.
  • Mistie and I tried unsuccesfully to have a photo shoot of the little princess. I got peed and pooped on in the first 5 minutes! Mindy, where are you when I need you?

Overall everything is going great and we appreciate all of the help we have received from everyone. I don't know how we would have survived this first week without the help of the grandmas! And thanks everyone for thinking of us and leaving us comments- we can't wait for all of you to get to meet her!

Finally....

Two sleeping kids..... this won't last long so I will make this post short and sweet...

Ella finally arrived Monday night at 7pm after 12 hours of labor and two pushes. We are enjoying our new little princess and only wish she would sleep as well at night as she does all day long!

More details about everything will have to wait for later!
Daddy changing his first "girl" diaper. Don't worry.... they were both nervous but they both survived.

This picture is for everyone who doesn't understand why we have nicknamed her "Bozo" As you can see she clearly has hair on the sides and back of her head but not much on top except for the alfafa that stands straight up and bends backwards with a curl!

We are also pleased to report that Jack is loving his new baby sister. He has already tried to feed her a marshmallow and has graciously insisted she use his "flea bag." Luckily he let Ryan reposition the flea bag from over the top of her face to on top of her feet!

Welcome Baby Ella!

This is Jenny (Katie's sister in law) and I'm posting a few pictures of the healthy, 8lb, 18" beautiful baby Ella. Both mommy and baby are doing well.

What a beautiful family!

Two words.

Still pregnant.

Just in case any of you were wondering! It has been way too nice outside to spend anytime blogging but we wanted to let everyone know we are still alive and baby is still cooking!

Answers

So I haven't officially posted on my blog exactly when baby Ella will arrive because I don't like the whole world to have access to when we won't be home. But I will tell you that it is less than 14 days until she will be here! My mom is planning on coming and spending the whole week with us to help out and I'm excited because we will need her help! Until then I am trying to knock a few things off of my to do list but mostly Jack and I are just hanging out at home thinking of all the things I should be doing!

(See all the toys all over the floor that I should be cleaning up instead of blogging!)

Will we ever learn?

This morning Mistie and I decided to take the kids to a bounce house to let them play. We always make such grand plans and have high hopes and as usual they enjoyed eating the fruit snacks I smuggled in the best. We decided that we will give it a few more months before we try this adventure again but they did give a few of the bouncers a try. Jack also really enjoyed shopping in the little gift area and inspecting all of their electrical outlets and blowers that kept the bounce houses blown up. I guess it's the simple pleasures in life. Next week we are going to stay home, eat fruit snacks and check out our own power outlets!

Ready or Not??

I can't decide whether or not I'm ready to have this baby! On one hand I'm sick and tired of being pregnant and on the other it hasn't been that bad. This will most likely be the last time I'm ever pregnant so it makes me a little sad to have it end. I'm also aware that she is a lot easier to take care of now than she will be after she makes her grand entrance. So hopefully in the next couple of days I will get more and more uncomfortable so the idea of actually having to deliver her doesn't sound so bad after all!

18 Month Checkup

Friday we took Jack to his 18 month appointment with the pediatrician. Since he was born he has always topped the charts for everything. This time he had gained less than a pound in six months! He now is only in the 46th percentile for his weight and I swear I feed the little twerp. Oh well, I suppose as the doctor put it..... "he's going to be tall and skinny like his dad." I suppose it's better than getting the short and fat gene from me!! :) He is now almost 35 inches tall and we are glad to report that he is finally growing into his head size! Overall it was a good visit with good news except for the little part about we should be completely rid of the bottle by now.... but we are just going to pretend like we didn't hear that part. (We are working on it!)

Obssessed

Jack is totally in love with all of his blankets. I am afraid poor little Ella isn't ever going to get to touch a blanket. If he sees one anywhere in the house he takes claim of it and drags it around for the rest of the day! This is how he woke up this morning after finding several freshly laundered blankets next to his crib. He pulled them all through the slats of the crib and insisted on dragging them around all morning long. Yes folks, that is five blankets and a "flea bag" being drug around the house. I better expand on what a "flea bag" is for those that aren't family members. Several people in our family are attached to some rather disgusting pillows that get drug around everywhere we go. Because these pillows go on road trips, vacations and everywhere you can think of they get pretty filthy so we joke that they are full of fleas, hence the nickname the "flea bag." And yes Jack is the proud owner of his own flea bag!

A little fuzzy but I love this picture. He is developing quite the little personality!

Multitasking

Somedays Jack enjoys his breakfast of champions in the tub. Nutrigrain bar and Milk. What's that old saying? Something about killing two birds with one stone?
